History of Kurseong
In the wake of this energetic and current Kurseong town lays a history of transformation. In 1835 the King of Sikkim yielded the little province to the British Government during
British rule in India. The village came to regular notice when the
Darjeeling Himalayan Railway (DHR) expanded its railway tracks up to Kurseong on 25th August, 1880. DHR put up the Headquarters of the Sub-Divisions in Kurseong.
