Covering an area of 680 square kilometres, this park is situated in the Pin valley of the Spiti area of Lahaul and Spiti district. It was acknowledged a National Park in 1987. The area is encircled with mountains of Himalayas having elevation from 3800 to 6700 meters from the sea level. The sanctuary remains covered with snow over the height of 5000 meters.
