Kovalam, a little town situated 15 kilometres from Thiruvanathapuram is well known for one of the best beaches in Kerala. The sandy beaches are lines with lagoons and rock cove and palm trees. Kovalam with its natural protected bay and exclusive and amazing beaches is a protected bay and is place to enjoy beauty of nature.
The Arabian sea coast at a number of places with attractive coral reefs. It is the most prominent beach in south India popular for sunbathing, swimming.
According to history in 1930 that the possiblity of Kovalam beach as most attractive tourist destination in Kerala was revealed by the European guests of Travancore kingdom. But the actual fame as an ultimate beach resort was won later for the Kovalam beach in the early on seventies with the influx of loads of Hippys.
