Words are insufficient to portray their picturesque beauty.....lonavala or Lonavla, and Khandala are the two well known hill stations in the western piece of the state of Maharashtra. Lonavala is arranged at a stature of 620 meters above ocean level and Khandala lies a bit lower, in the western scopes of Sahyadari mountains. These hills stations lie 5 kilometers separated on either side of the Mumbai Pune parkway.
Founded in 1871 by Sir Elphinstone, the Governor of the Mumbai Presidency, Lonavala is completely amazing and is honored by nature in abundance with valleys, hills, waterfalls, greenery, lakes and an average atmosphere. Also Khandala, however moderately little, is just as favored with nature like Lonavala. As Khandala is little in zone, you can investigate the whole locale in a few days. Both these are divided by a profound valley on one side and high hills on the other side.
Prominently known as the Jewel of the Sahyadri Mountains, Lonavala's name is inferred from the Sanskrit word Lonavli signifying 'city surrounded by caves'. A mainstream portal from Mumbai and Pune, Lonavala placed 110 kms southeast of Mumbai and 64 kms from Pune, is basically the most advantageous base for voyagers to visit the well known old Buddhist rock cut caves of Bhaja and Karla, which are spotted close-by. It is a prominent health resort and is likewise celebrated for jams and Chikkis, a sweet candy prepared loccally.
