The Mrugavani National park covers an area of 3.50 square kilometers recognized in 1994 is situated near Himayatsagar lake at 25 kilometers away from Hyderabad, the nearest town.
The rising and falling topography of the park has rock-strewn exposure of the Deccan trap configuration and the vegetation is tropical dry deciduous forest of degraded nature combined with woods and grasslands. Numerous plant species which include herb, shrub, climber and trees like teak, rosewood, sandalwood, neem, bamboo are found here.
