Tourists are permitted only to the tourism area in the Rajamala region where trekking facilities are offered. Anamudi the highest peak of western ghat is located in the south of the Eravikulam National park.
Eravikulam National Park is the protected region of Nilgiri Tahr and Rajamala is the natural territory of this rare mountain goat. Fifty percent of the world population of the endangered Nilgiri Tahr lives in this sanctuary and is the main attraction of the park. Moreover other significant fauna or wild animals are elephant, leopard, tiger, malabar civet, sambar, barking deer, nilgai, langur, phyhon along with birds like imperial pigeon, grey jungle fowl and many more can be sighted during bird watching and safaris in the park.
Neelakurinji an exclusive species of flowers that bloom once in twelve years grows abundantly on these grasslands which transform huge areas of hilly landscape into valley of flowers. A lots of tourists visit to Eravikulam to witness at this natural spectacle.
