Manas is located in Kamrup Golapara district,at the bottom of the hills of the Himalayas in the south eastern side of river Manas next to the Assam Bhutan border. The attractive park in the early days early known as North Kamrup covers an area of 390 square kilometres and was acknowledged a sanctuary in 1928 and the Manas Tiger Reserve in the year 1973.
The National Park is one of the World Heritage Sites from 1985 with the rare and endangered species. The park expands over the national boundary to Bhutan too and known as the Royal Manas Park.
