Situated in north west Maharashtra nearly 72 kilometres from Nagpur, the Pench Tiger Reserve consists of the Indira Priyadarshini Pench National Park and Mowgli Pench Sanctuary in the Seoni district of Madhya Pradesh in the slope of the Satpura hills .

River Pench flows through the Park divides it into two. The park was formed as Pench Sanctuary in 1977 and in 1992 the area of 760 square kilometres area which include the National Park and the sanctuary was identified as the Tiger Reserve of India.
