Rangaswamy Peak and Pillar , Kotagiri, Tamil Nadu , India

Rangaswamy Peak and Pillar lies 20 kms from Kotagiri town. Sacrosanct for Irulas (a tribe), this funnel shaped crest oozes an elating perspective of the wild yet concordant similarity of the nation lying around. Topping at a tallness of 5855 ft the site could be seen unmistakably from the fields and from the Kodanadu View Point. Legend says that God Rangaswami who existed in Karamadai, fought with his wife and came to live here alone and there are two sanctuaries here, committed to God Rangaswami and his associate. Two foot shaped impressions might be seen on the rock. North by West to the top, is a gigantic separated Rangaswmai pillar of rock climbing unexpectedly on all sides to a stature of around 400 ft.
