There are lots of tourist attractions around Mirik including Samendu Lake:
Positioned at the central point of the Mirik valley, this is the key
attraction of Mirik. This is not a natural lake but was formed by the
government in order to promote tourism in Mirik the area of it is
about1.25 sq. kilometers. The lake with its boating amenities attracts
tourists. Angling is also allowed in the lake to some extent. The Dhupi forests
encircling the lake increase the natural beauty of the place. Swimming
in this lake is neither suggested nor permitted as the lake is used as
sewerage by part of the inhabitants.
The Helipad: It allows some of the best views the Mirik Lake along with the town also as a view point of the magnificent Kunchenjunga.
Devi Sthan:
Devi Sthan or the place of worship of Singha Devi is situated on the
west bank of the Sumendu Lake. This temple is one of the chief
attractions for the tourists. The places of worship of Shiva, Hanuman
and Kali Mata are on the other bank of the lake. An extra holy place for
the tourists is Bokar Gompa situated in close proximity to these
temples.
Kawlay Dara: This is the place of natural beauty. From is point the whole Mirik can be observed too.
Rameetay Dara: This view point is distinguished for the scenic beauty of nature during sunset and sunrise.
Thurbo Tea Garden and Factory: Mirik is located in the midst of several best tea gardens of the West Bengal. The visit to these tea gardens is one of the unforgettable events for every tourist.
Orange Orchards The
view of the orange orchards are breathtaking. Soureni, a orange growing
village in Mirik produces huge number of oranges. Mirik is the major
supplier of oranges in West Bengal. The difference between the oranges
of the plains and of Mirik lies in its juice content. Oranges of Mirik
are exceptionally juicy.
