 Altitude , temperature,position and tourist information : The Great Himalayan National Park or GHNP also known as the Jawaharlal Nehru Great Himalayan National Park is richest biodiversity spot in the western Himalayas, India. 
History, significance and importance: Located in Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh was officially declared a National Park under the Wildlife Protection Act
, 1972 in 1999 to preserve the endangered wildlife species of the Himalayan ecosystem is also World Heritage Sites of India of UNESCO.

The Great Himalayan National Park covers an area of 906 square kilometers of the high mountain glaciers the sources of JiwaNal, Sainj, Tirthan and Parvati Rivers. The altitude varies from 1,800 to 5,300 meters with a major portion of the park located over 4,000 meters. Surrounded by the towering peaks of the Himalayas on three sides with an entry from the west, the park is in the Sainj Forest Division.
