The Buxa Tiger Reserve covers an area of 760 square kilometres was recognized during 1982 - 83 at the north eastern part of West Bengal adjacent to Bhutan and Assam. The core area of more or less 310 square kilometres surrounding the Buxa Duar Fort was acknowledged a National Park in January 1992.
This park is positioned in Jalpaiguri District, eastern Dooars at an elevation of 2650 feet above sea level with the nearest town Alipurduar Court. The Dooars consist of of deciduous forests which are thickly forested and grasslands and is dwelling of a variety of birds and wildlife of West Bengal with main attraction being Royal Bengal Tiger.
