The Nanda Devi National park with its elevation range from 2400 to 6820 meters has some exclusive high altitude flora and fauna in the world. Total of 775 with some rare species of plants like fir, birch, Rhododendron, juniper, birch can be found in the biosphere reserve.
The Fauna or wildlife of the park contains diverse and rare variety of 85 numbers of animal species namely common langur, Himalayan black bear, thar, musk deer, common and snow leopard, mainland serow, bharal, brown bear, goral and many more.
The whole Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve is within the Western Himalayas Endemic Bird Area or EBA and more than 115 bird species were on record in 1993 Nanda Devi Scientific and Ecological Expedition.Birds like grosbeak, rose finch, crested black tit, yellow bellied fantail, fly catcher, bush robin, Indian tree pipit, nut cracker, ruby throat can be sighted during Forest safari or birdwatching. The park has of affluent varieties of butterflies like common yellow swallowtail, blue apollo, queen of Spain etc.
