Gurudongmar Lake at an altitude of 17100 feet, is among the top 15 uppermost lakes in the world and is the second highest lake in Sikkim over and above in India, the first being Cholamu lake at a height of 18000 feet, also located in Sikkim. The panoramic and charming exquisiteness of the place is a spectacle to observe. Named after Guru Dongmar, the lake has a spiritual appeal. The sight of Mount Siniolchu and Khanchendzonga is overwhelming from that point. The prettiness of the lake is overwhelming and out of the world show.
when / best time / season to visit the lake is to June to November. There is scarcity of oxygen at such an elevation, and thus, residing there for more than an hour is not suggested for most tourists.
