There are numerous legends connected with this shore, the most acclaimed is that, the girl of a previous Portuguese Governor of Goa, Dona Paula de Menzes (after whom the beach of Dona Paula is named) tossed herself onto the rocks underneath the bluffs when her proposal was rejected to wed a neighborhood fisherman, Gaspar Dias.
Be that as it may in the authentic records, Dona Paula is not a sentimental figure yet a figure in history. She was the girl of a Sri Lankan Governor and her family landed in Goa in 1644. Her spouse was Dom Antonio Souto Maior.
