Best time / season for gliding : October to June
Arambol is trendy as the paramount para gliding site in Goa India. Other sites comprise Anjuna, Vagator etc. Arambol is most excellent for beginners with its normal, smooth and stable sea breeze just right for effortless, no break flying. The site has edges which are flyable in North Western winds over and above South Western winds. The winds set in by delayed morning right for the period of the flying season from October to June and some days it’s possible to fly all day at least 5 to 6 hours till sunset.
There are three take off sites which depend on the wind course. Om rock face is flyable in the South Western direction, Kerry take off and the 1km extended crest to the right of the sweet water lake is flyable in the West to North West breeze. The ridge is nearly 100 ft lofty and is in general used by beginners for top to bottom (TTB) flights and landing are habitually on the beach in frontage of the lake.
The trouble with beach landing is the gathering of sand within the glider which tends to diminish glider life and make it hard to pack the glider. For the reason that of the strong, balanced wind in Arambol, turn around launches is preferred and pilots ought to have the essential ground management skills for successful inflation and takeoff. Top landing is as well feasible from the spot and tree landings are frequent. Look into the top landing region before itself and be careful for huge rocks.
There are amenities obtainable for training and tandem, accompanying flights at about Rs.900 per flight rides by means of imported Para gliders, from Arambol. Equipments are as well available on hire for skilled tourists from the Relax Inn on the beach.
