Bhagwan Mahavir Sanctuary formally known as Mollem Game Sanctuary is located east border of the state, near to the village of Mollem in the Western Ghats. The sanctuary is 60 kilometers away from the Panaji and is the largest of four protected wildlife regions of Goa. Spreads to an area of 250 square kilometers of which the core region of the sanctuary consists of 105 square kilometers and was acknowledged as a National Park in 1978 as Mollem National Park.
